Patricia Villalobos Echeverria
Patricia Villalobos Echeverria explores the condition of the body within a post human and transnational context, investigating the collisions of these two concurrent conditions. Her work spans a wide range of media: photography, prints, videos, sound and installation.
Aflujo • Afflux focuses on the intersection of land and body, from altering materials & sites: snow/water, Inland/Coastal, Pacific Coast in Central & South America and Atlantic in North America.
She has exhibited and lectured internationally in Argentina, Cuba, Central America, Peru, The Czech Republic, The Netherlands, as well as exhibited and lectured in the U.S. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including the PA Council on the Arts, The Oregon Artist Fellowship, and has represented Nicaragua and the US at various Biennials; she has been a fellow at The MacDowell Colony and The Studio for Creative Inquiry at CMU among others. She currently lives in Pittsburgh and is a Professor of Art at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
A catalogue that places this body of work into a broader context of the artist’s practice will also be available during the exhibition. The richly illustrated catalog includes essays by art critics Kristina Olson and Alicia Candiani.
