Master of Arts (Art History)

Undergraduate prerequisites for regular admission: Applicants should possess the following: 15 hours of approved art history courses (equivalent to WVU Art 105, 106, 200-level courses.) 12 hours approved from history, anthropology, philosophy, aesthetics, humanities. Reading knowledge of at least one language other than English, 2nd-year equivalent): German, French, Italian. Or a B.A. in an area of substantial humanistic research, plus a foreign language. (recommended: history, philosophy, religious studies, humanities, anthropology, English language and literature, foreign languages and literature, journalism, public administration).

Every graduate student is required to complete a graduate project. The graduate art faculty recommend those students who may be required to hold graduate exhibition.

All graduate students are expected to utilize Morgantown's proximity to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Washington, D.C., and New York City, by gaining a familiarity with their museum and research facilities and conferences.

Deficiencies

The student will be notified at the time of admission of any deficiencies, which must be made up, in addition to the program of study. All deficiencies must be completed before the student is considered a regular Preliminary Candidate in a degree program, and courses, which are taken in order to satisfy such deficiencies, do not count toward any Master's degree requirements.
