Mr. Zhang joined art faculty at WVU in 1999 and was appointed as visiting assistant professor of painting in 2003. His work in the classroom focuses on painting at the undergraduate level.
Mr. Zhang received a B.F.A. in oil painting from Nanjing Arts Institute, Nanjing China in 1988 and a M.F.A. in painting from West Virginia University in 2000. He has had several solo shows and has participated in many group exhibitions, including First Chinese Oil painting Exhibition in Shanghai in 1987; he is represented by OK Harris Works of Art in New York and Annex Gallery in Charleston, WV. His work has been reviewed in Art Paper Magazine. He has received numerous awards, including a Liu Haisu Fellowship in 1987. His work is in many private collections. He has completed a portrait commission from the United States District Court.
