International Programs

The Division of Art celebrates the global perspective of the visual arts through a comprehensive, high quality offering of International Programming.

The Division of Art has developed exciting and unique study abroad opportunities for visual art students. Working collaboratively with the WVU Office of International Programs and with our sister institutions abroad, we have created programs of the highest caliber, where groups of students, led by WVU faculty, study with master artists and teachers of the host country. Partner institutions include the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute ( China ), the Central Academy of Fine Art ( Beijing , China ), the Nanjing College of Art ( China ), the University of Guanajuato ( Mexico ) and La Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti ( Milan , Italy ). The Division of Art is also a Friendship Institution of the University of Georgia Cortona , Italy Program.

There are a variety of programs offered, within diverse disciplines and for varying lengths of time. These include semester long program in China to study Ceramics, five week summer programs to study Painting or Ceramics in China , six weeks to study Design in Milan , and three weeks to study digital photography in Mexico . Each program is unique and offers special opportunities for creative inquiry. All of our programs are offered for credit at the undergraduate or graduate level and are rich in cultural study and include numerous visits to museums, historical sites and special events.

Our international programs are a core of our academic programs. In additional to the groups of students that travel abroad, an aggressive faculty exchange program brings outstanding faculty from our partner institution to Morgantown . These residencies enable the entire academic community to share the spirit of our global experience.
