Our travel would begin in Pittsburgh flying through Houston to Mexico City.  From Mexico City, we would travel by van to Oaxcoa, Taxco and the pyramids at Teotihuacan.  After our stay in Mexico City, we will again travel by van to Guanajuato. From Guanajuato we will return by air to Pittsburgh  through Houston or Dallas.  The final cost is based on a minimum of 8 students making the trip.

Based on previous years, a proposed course of study and an intinerary for travel will tentatively be as follows:  The program will begin by spending the first two days discussing readings and viewing slide presentations at the Creative Arts Center. These presentations will center on major Mexican art and artists as well as past photography. We will also use this time to review language and cultural issues. On the third day we will travel by van to Pittsburgh International to fly to Mexico City.

While in Mexico City we will visit the Museum of Modern Art, the Palace of Fine Arts to see most of the major muralists of Mexico as well as contemporary artists, the Diego Rivera Mural museum to view his most famous murals, the Blue House where Frieda Kahlo had her studio, the museum of Archeology and Anthropology, and we will visit with Gabriel Meave, at his design studio, Kimera. If possible we will also visit the studios of other designers and artists in Mexico City.  We will take one day side trips from Mexico City to Taxco, a unique, hillside village famous for its silver work,  to the Teoteahican pyramids where the Aztec lived over a 1000 years ago and  to the city of Oaxaca to see more of the indigenous Indian work, architecture, and art of Mexico. In all cases, time will be allowed for individual exploration, shopping, etc. For all the trips we will have a translator and van available.
