Disegno Italia

Italian building

The Disegno Italia summer program provides students with the opportunity to study Italian design and culture coursework. This four-week program begins at il Sillabo in San Giovanni Valdarno, located twenty minutes outside of Florence in the Tuscan countryside. At il Sillabo students will take conversational Italian language, Italian art, design, culture, and history. In addition, students will take a cooking class in order to participate in a cultural immersion experience.

The group then will travel to Milan and spend two weeks at Nuova Academia di Belle Arti (NABA). Their time at NABA builds upon the early Italian art lectures covered at Il Sillabo and introduces the design culture of contemporary Italy in the design center of Milan. A choice of courses that specialize in different fields of design such as landscape architecture, fashion design and merchandising, interior design, graphic and product design will be offered. The courses feature lectures by professional Italian designers from each field, field trips to professional venues and a project.
